Why we developed the Kitchen English program...
|
We saw students drop out of adult
school English classes because of conflicting work schedules. They were
caught in a Catch 22, in which they had to quit school because of work
commitments, but couldn't advance because of their poor English skills.
Since many of these students went into service industries, we decided
to create an accelerated program tailored to their needs. Kitchen
English lessons evolved from that program. Today, Language Express
materials and programs are used throughout the foodservice and hospitality
industries because they help people communicate quickly and easily to
get the job done!

Peri Levin founder and
director of Language Express, specializes in developing English as a
Second Language materials and training for the hospitality industry.
Coauthor of Kitchen English, an ESL textbook for foodservice
operations, she has 17 years of teaching experience in the US and abroad.

ESL and Adult Literacy Instructors Institutes, and a California teaching

level and a UCLA Master Teacher. Currently, Peri continues to research
and develop new ESL materials to provide improved solutions for today's
diverse workplace.
